Some of you know I am planning my son’s Lego Star Wars Birthday Party for the end of February. It is hard to find things without Googling endlessly for ideas so I figured I would share some of the ideas I have found here. Some ideas I will/am using and others are just too cute not to mention. Of course I will post my own photos from the party in another post whenever we get there. Even though the end of February seems so far away it is coming up really quick!
These adorable Lego Star Wars Birthday Party Invites can be found at Party Posh Printables.com. They are personalized with your own information and have the cutest characters! There are even Photo Props, yes the up coming trend of photo booths is huge and these adorable Lego Star Wars themed photo props are a can’t miss addition to this party set. Complete with Birthday Cupcake Toppers and Water bottle labels. There is even a matching Birthday banner. Check it out Party Posh Printables on Etsy or on Facebook here.
Check out how Sarah Gunn from @SarahGunnStyle on Instagram used the same printables (Photo Props she used modge podge and a canvas) to create this fun party setup! Don’t forget to pin things to Pinterest to reference them later!
Next I needed ideas for party favors. So let’s start with Party Favors. I found these inexpensive Inflatable Light Sabers which range in price from around $2.50 a piece up to $4.00 and over. I included a link to parties4kids where they were on sale for $2.59. I can’t take all the credit for this find. I was googling and came across this mom’s blog My Little Jedi and found a post about her son, Aniken,(yes she named her son Aniken so you know this has to be a good Birthday Party Post) for her son’s 1st Birthday Party. She had a picture with the light sabers and also the cutest Jedi Training Certificates. Definitely check out her blog post for more great Star Wars Birthday Party Ideas! She even had the cutest Setup for a Candy Buffet Table.
Now if you aren’t super adventurous with fondant I don’t suggest trying to make these next Lego Star Wars themed cupcake toppers. However if you are check this out, Marshmallow Fondant Recipe, which tastes exactly like Marshmallows!! It is super yummy. I made these adorable toppers and am including them in this post since they go with the theme. My son loved them and they were a big hit at the party. If this is too much work for you Party Posh Printables has some cut out and place on a stick kinda Lego Star Wars toppers here… easy peasy.
Aren’t these easy ones super cute too! They also match the Invites so that’s a huge plus, no matter what your party planning skill there is always something our there for you 🙂
This adorable Hippo Baby Shower Cake is another example of a customer requesting we make a coordinating cake to match the Party Invitation for the Baby Shower. The Hippo was hand molded out of our made from scratch Marshmallow fondant. The top tier was made to match the polka theme on the invitations and the stripes were added, well because we needed something to make this an adorable two tier cake!!
These invitations were hand made and a picture of them was sent to my e-mail. I heard that everyone loved the cake!! The little hippo was even preserved to save for the baby’s first birthday or sometime special for him and his mother to enjoy together!

This weekend we made a Two Tier Princess Pillow Cake with a Gumpaste Tiara on Top and lots of beautiful flowers all over the cake. The colors were different shades of Pink and Green. Our Favorite Princess Cake by Far. We made the bottom Princess Pillow Cake out of a square Red Velvet Cake and carved into it to make it look more like a real pillow. We then iced and covered it with Marshmallow Fondant, decorating it with and Argyle Pattern and Silver Dragees. The top Pillow was a Black and White Cake the top layer Vanilla and the bottom Chocolate. It was also iced and covered in Marshmallow Fondant. Deocorated with a simpler band going around the cake. The Marshmallow Fondant Flowers were hand rolled and placed all over the cake for the extra girly touch. We had a lot of fun making this cake and were so excited to be challenged with something that ended up looking so beautiful. If you are interested in a Princess Pillow Cake for your childs next Birthday we would love to make another. Feel free to contact us or stop by the bakery located at 1413 North George Street in York, PA to order.
This Tractor Cake was made to coordinate with a John Deere themed Party. The Little boy was turning 2 and the mother requested the Cake have a tractor pulling hail bails and the number two somewhere on the cake. The little ears of corn were a cute touch thought of at the last minute. Dean was the little boys name going across the top tier. The cake also had matching cupcakes go along with it. What a fun Tractor Cake for a Little Boys John Deere Birthday Party.
We introduced Brownies today at the Bakery. We had so many requests for the brownies and we were so happy to finally get them into the case today! We topped some with a Chocolate Hazelnut and Bittersweet Chocolate! We also featured some of our Original Brownies with a Whipped Chocolate Ganache and Bittersweet Chocolate! Pretty Close to a Death By Chocolate.
On top of the excitment from putting out the Brownies today I received an intersting call from someone who works at Food Network. It isn’t everyday someone from a network, let alone Food Network, calls you to ask if you are going to apply to there new show, Cupcake Wars!!! You can imagine my excitement 🙂 Thousands of applications are submitted daily and I received a personal phone call!?!? SO Many Questions but so little time. I only have three days to make the video and submit the application to Cameron. Oh yes, Cameron is the nice Gentleman that found me on the internet and called me from Food Network (He works there) LOL! At this point I feel like screaming because this is an amazing opportunity for my sister and I and the Bakery!
For now I am crossing my fingers in hopes that I can meet there deadline and the deadline of my 6 Custom Cake orders that need to all be filled. Some Thursday, a couple Friday, and then a delivery and pickup on Saturday, all while stocking the cases for our storefront traffic! How do I work under pressure………I have to laugh……or else I couldn’t do it 🙂
Stay tuned for what will hopefully be more and exciting news!!!!!!

I am so impressed that I actually have the time to post this Wedding Cake today! Why? Well we usually never get to post anything the day it is made and usually it takes us a week or two to get it on our Baking Blog! Impressive I know 🙂 This Wedding Cake is for a Wedding tomorrow afternoon. The request was that we make a small Wedding Cake to feed around 30 people. The colors were to be mostly white with Dark Blue accents. Everything else left up to me! Why do I love these cakes? The design is completely free from my head, with a little help from my sister 😉 I get to thinking and usually I am on point with our cakes. Not so much with this one however. It turned out to look nothing like what I was envisioning. My sister and I pushed ourselves to step out of our comfort zone and try something different with this Wedding Cake.
Originally we were going to do an elegant white fondant covered Wedding Cake, which we did, with a subtle dark blue piping of some kind and vine detailing. Boy were we way off. We ended up trying out a Fondant Draping technique to push us over to a new level, and somehow it worked!?!? I know, I know, once again we have proved ourselves capable of tackling another unknown challenge. Don’t think this Wedding Cake technique came easy. This paticular Wedding Cake ended up taking us alot longer than we planned. We had our ideas of how it should be done. I am sure you all know how that story goes, so to make it short, we figured out a trick to help it go alot smoother. We still weren’t out of the clear. No, we had to figure out how to make the Cake pop with some kind of dark blue detailing. This is where the Daisies come in. Afterall it is Spring and they are a great spring flower! So we added the daisies 2 large and about 33 small flowers. The little Silver Dragees were added to finish the accenting on the cake. A little white swirling and the finished product turned out to be very Elegant!
